| I invite you to an extremely important meeting of Cook County clubs on Tuesday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union League Club of Chicago. As you are likely aware, many private clubs in Cook County are experiencing massive increases in their property tax bills as part of the triennial review of assessments. Some clubs are facing tax assessments of three times their 2019 rates! During our time together, we will discuss the situation in the county and a potential long-term response. This meeting is open to club general managers, controllers and their board presidents regardless of whether your club is a member of NCA. Taxing private clubs appears to be a focus of the new Cook County tax assessor and this meeting will serve as the first step in coalescing as a community of clubs to work together through this process. We are stronger as a community and speaking with one voice on matters so deeply affecting private clubs. Joining me will be Joe Trauger, NCA’s vice president of government relations, who will lead a panel discussion that will include attorneys representing affected Cook County clubs, a general manager and a national property analyst/appraiser to provide their expertise on the situation in Cook County and national trends. Following the panel will be a cocktail networking reception. Please note the Union League of Chicago's dress code: https://www.ulcc.org/Default.aspx?p=dynamicmodule&pageid=407413&ssid=334437&vnf=1 I look forward to seeing you on September 10.
